There was a time when I wanted to do everything myself.
I thought I was controlling the quality of my work. I thought I was controlling my business and being pragmatic. What I really was doing was slowing down my business to a glacial pace. I was working 10-12 hour days to meet client deadlines and straining to upkeep my online business. I worked 7 days a week with no fun was crazy! Could you just imagine how pleasant I was to be around? On so many different levels this business model was not working!
What Changed?
I had a friend of mine start to work with me and do all the “busy work” for a few months. It was amazing! I had room for all the creative and strategy I wanted to implement in my business. My whole world opened up and my sales jumped because of it. This was the catalysts of my mindset shift in growing my business using talented people. Oh and then this happened…

Growing My Team
How did I grow my team? I placed my first ad for a WordPress designer and hired my first virtual staff member. I now freed up all my time, I started playing the design of my website at a grander level and do the work I wanted to do with my clients.
When I finally started putting my team together I was surprised to see I could start a new hire as little as $3 an hour! All I had to do was train them. I came up with a successful system to train each new member of my team. It works so well that I have taken vacation and when I got back my new hire was already fully trained by my team. A virtual team equals new found freedom and I made it really easy to implement.

We often find ourselves researching ourselves into complete paralysis. There was a time I wanted to do everything myself but it wasn’t working for me. What would you like your legacy to be? We often think about how well we need to execute that perfect power point presentation and wow your client with other well known clients that you previously worked with, and somehow that matters in the beginning. Growing your income might be something that drives you in on your morning commute, or leaping from your current job to that corner office you have been eyeing. Is that your legacy? Is that what you want to be known for?
Think about it for a minute. I will tell you on a personal note of what I want to be known for: something different at least every 8-12 months. I evolve as my business does. I tend to do what I really discover – what I like – and grow from there.
Now with that said, can you imagine if someone or a team came in on your behalf and lifted 20-30 hours of your work and did if for you? What would your quality of life be like? How would your life change? What would be more important? I will tell you that for me it’s my morning hike on Karaka Bay Road in, of all places, New Zealand. I created a life I really wanted and so should you.
